Hostein milk cow

Hostein milk cows (the nickname is white & black milk cow) are the highest output breed of milk cows with a long history breeding in the world. Introduced from America, the colony of Hostein milk cows in our company is the only one in China with the highest quality and the largest quantity breeders. The characteristics of Hostein milk cows are stability of genetic traits, large physiques with black and white coats, high feed transformation rate, cold resistant, strong adaptability, and so on. The milk output is high, and average milk production is 13000 kg per cow annually. The milk contains about 4.0% fat and 3.4% protein. The project of high output milk cows has been listed into one of the "948" projects of Ministry of Agriculture, a project of "Introduction of high output milk cow breeders to speed up China’s milk industry progress". The key breed for introduction is Hostein milk cow. Our company has adopted embryo transfer technique, which combine special hi-tech with classical breeding technique, and hammered at rapid breeding of economical animals for a long time. It is the first time in China to set up the rapid breeding technique system of high output milk cow embryo transfer. Now we have three breeding farms and two holding companies, which are connected to the headquarter by computer network to setup an database for monitoring the breeding indexes, such as genetic sources (family trees) body weight, health status, feed consumption, etc., between different farms. According to the database, we can evaluate the breeding capabilities of one age group to determine their breeding values. Each cow has its health card from birth. Computer stores all information about the clients, their contact manners, and the breeders when and where to sell out, which are convenient for us to do the follow-up service. Systems of programmed managements have been established, including, feeding procedure and feed formula, quarantine of some infectious diseases, elimination of parasites, disease monitoring, controlling and treating. The above data as an archive are used not only to serve our clients for before-, inter- and after-service, but also to train our staff members to improve the qualities of ourselves, and finally the product. In order to select and spread the qualified breeder, it is essential to maintain the stability of genetic trait from the original breeders. We own two strains of Hostein milk cow breeders originally from U. S. A. and Australia. Apart from taking the above managing measures, we select youth females as donor goats, which show excellent reproduction properties. By using embryo transfer technique, it is easy to transport genetic material, and speed up the reproduction, and thus enlarge our breeder population, and ensure the quality.
